St Joseph's College, Gregory Terrace, reigned supreme at the recent GPS Junior Swimming Carnival, and a familiar name was etched amongst the champions. Chase Winter, son of swimming legend Jade Winter (GT 1996), not only contributed to the team's triumph but also carved his own path to victory.

Following in his father's footsteps, a champion swimmer who donned the green and gold for Australia, Chase proved his own talent in the pool. He wasn't alone in his success – 10 Terrace students, including Chase, dominated a staggering 25 events, propelling the team to claim the coveted GPS Junior Swimming title.

In addition to the Medley relay, Chase claimed victory in the Division 2 Freestyle, Backstroke, and Butterfly events. His father, Jade Winter, was a GPS champion himself before representing Australia on the international stage, an achievement that undoubtedly inspires Chase's competitive spirit.

The Terrace team's victory is a testament to the dedication and talent of its swimmers. It’s also a reminder of the strong swimming tradition at St Joseph's College, the countless hours of training in the Terrace pool giving rise to champion swimmers such as Tom Neill, Mark Tonelli, Anthony Fingleton and Christian and Nicholas Sprenger.

With a winning team spirit and champions like Chase Winter, Alex Fullerton and Vincent O’Neill emerging, the future of Terrace swimming looks bright. The legacy continues, and the pool at Gregory Terrace will surely see many more victories in the future.
